"Super-Duper Thomas"

We've got a superhero in our house these days. Not exactly sure what sparked this imagination trip, but its a fun one!

The other day at the park our superhero rescued his damsel in distress many times. It was so cute to watch his friend (visiting from Washington) get her self set and call for help, so Super-Duper Thomas could help her…

Then tonight we were getting ready for dinner. And as Barbara started to climb into her chair she exclaimed,"Oh no! There's yogurt in my chair! I don't want to sit in yogurt.".
"Super-Duper Thomas to the rescue!! I know just how to fix your problem!"
With that he climbed up to the kitchen counter and asked me to hand him a paper towel. After discovering the yogurt had dried some. He stopped and said,"What can we do about this?"
(fortunately the kids' chairs are covered in plastic). "I know just what to do!" and he took the paper towel to the bathroom and got it wet. Then he came back and wiped off the chair and exclaimed,"It worked!". Then he got a dry paper towel and dried the chair off, then declared "The problem is solved because Super-Duper Thomas knows just what to do!"

So cute! I just had to share…

I saw this about a week before I had the opportunity to live it again.  We are blessed. I have lived the truth of Psalm 68:6, more than once. It says "God setteth the solitary in families". And for me, He has. He has set me in multiple families!  I do not take that for granted!  I have had to make hard choices to step away from biological family that is/was not healthy or a people who looked out for my safety and well-being.  I am sure they have made choices that they believed to be best for themselves, but they were damaging to me and would have been unsafe for my children.   As a "solitary" person who has sought to love the Lord and His people,  I have been blessed to experience His unconditional adoptive love through His people.  The people He has placed in my life for me to love and be loved by.  I am always amazed when the families of those I love like family accept and me and my kids rather than being threatened ...

Yay!

So excited. The bits and pieces seem to be coming together quite nicely for a summer adventure… me & my kids-a road trip in California. :) Summer is a little ways off still, but I can at least dream of the sun when I can't see it :). If I get the answer I am hoping for from one more couple… and call Brad's aunt, we should be able to make the whole trip with no hotel stays, and get to see at least 9 friends… Barbara is making great strides in her potty training. Good times… good friends… good memories… I can hardly wait!!!!!!!

Dottie George Prof. Ryterband English 3A 26 November 2019 Mentoring I believe mentoring is very important. Children don’t learn to be adults simply by being given a bunch of rules to follow. They learn by choosing to follow the leading of adults they love and respect. Mentoring can be formal or informal. There are programs like Big Brother Big Sister of America that pair kids with mentors. These programs are great and can make a difference in the lives of children, but sometimes the child can feel more like a project, like the adult mentor is trying to fix them. I believe informal mentorship is far better, perhaps because I greatly benefitted from it myself. As a high-risk teen from an abusive and neglectful home, I was fortunate to encounter several people who took me under their wings and showed me my life could be different.
